Kultfabrik memories

Berlin faces

Berlin – Eldorado for urban artwork. As a tourist you may have seen this huge graffiti in the backyard of a former petrol station at the Uhlandstraße 187  when you passed with the urban railway line between Bahnhof Zoo and Savignyplatz in Berlin Charlottenburg. The Berlin Graffiti-artist Lake Lamprecht Gino Fuchs created this fascinating artpiece of 1.200 squaremeter which was now destroyed to build up a new building.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Face

hand-landscape

Seen some years ago in Berlin – East Side Gallery – Landscape full of hands

In reality the installation is called „Touch the Wall“ by Christine Kühn. She started the project in 1990 and asked people to touch the wall and to draw their hands on the wall. As it was forbidden by the German Democratic Republic to touch the wall, it was a symbolic act of freedom. In 2009 this part of the Wall was restaurated and the art work renewed. But since that time more than 100 new hands were drawn up. Although it damages the conservation of the work it shows how the landscape of peace evolves and how the idea of liberty is transferred.

memory boxes – dance performance

It was last year in June when the OFF Experimental Open Art Festival took place in the Säulenhalle (Munich). One highlight was the dance performance „Memory Boxes“.

In each box there was a little peace of paper with a „memory“ – something personal that was noted down during the event using an old typewriter.
