Seen some years ago in Berlin – East Side Gallery – Landscape full of hands
In reality the installation is called „Touch the Wall“ by Christine Kühn. She started the project in 1990 and asked people to touch the wall and to draw their hands on the wall. As it was forbidden by the German Democratic Republic to touch the wall, it was a symbolic act of freedom. In 2009 this part of the Wall was restaurated and the art work renewed. But since that time more than 100 new hands were drawn up. Although it damages the conservation of the work it shows how the landscape of peace evolves and how the idea of liberty is transferred.
